WDM school updates
Clive English language learners compared different versions of Cinderellalike stories from different countries Jan. 9-13. They read the stories "Yeh-hsien" from China; "Little One-Eye, Little Two-Eye, and Little Three-Eye" from Germany; "Nomi and the Magic Fish" from Africa; "How the Cowherd Found a Bride" from India; and "The Story of Tan and Cam" from Vietnam. Other folktales from different countries were available in the English as a Second Language classroom for independent reading. • All orchestra students who sold items for the Party Time fundraising efforts should pick up their orders from 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 4 at Western Hills Elementary School, 600 39th St. in West Des Moines. Crestview The book club will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the media center. The book selection is "The Glass Castle," a memoir by Jeannette Walls. Two copies of the book are available for interested parents and staff to check out from the media center.
